Just to say that this was not always the case, the Hindus and Muslims united against the British during the Khilafat campaign in 1919 to protest the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire. The campaign was opposed by none other than Jinnah and of course the Hindu Mahasabha both of whom were concerned with promoting personal agendas.
So do you think the Khilafat campaign was a good one?. Do you know what that campaign was for?.
A Majority of them go to any length to prove that they have nothing to do with India, despite ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri pundits, yet they claim secular character of Kashmiriat, I do believe Muslim communalism is now redefined as secularism!! that’s what is now practiced in India, by the so called secular parties!
Nice blog, very well said. Unfortunately, secularism has come to be defined as such in India. I hope people (especially Hindus) see through this and realise that they have been taken for a ride in the name of "secularism".
The funny thing is that Omar Abdhullah's speech in Parliament was feted as excellent and "secular" by the English media all over the country. when I read that It felt like the Mahabaratha where Duryodhana refuses to give even an inch of land.
As ProudHindu says, Hindus can't even laugh as the joke is on them.
Wow, scribbling pad, nice passion in your arguments. Keep it going.
It is better to argue on facts and I think your concerns are valid.
India has been repeatedly attacked by islamist outfits claiming one grievance or the other. This has to STOP.
I think the Muslims are feeling the heat and are coming out with fatwas. Today there was a news that Deoband issued a fatwa. it is funny in the sense that it is the Deobandi inspiration that gave birth to the likes of Taliban.
I guess if we translate what has been taught in deoband that would give us a better clue. it is high time that everyone takes interest in what they are dealing with and read about that. i was surprised to find out the amout of hate in Quran against the "polytheists".
KM,
That is your perception.
Let me tell you my perception.
May I remind you the cartoonists are vested with responsibilities to uplift the audience's rational thinking, after seeing a filmmaker killed on the streets of Europe and artists getting afraid of exercising their freedom of expression , the cartoons they drew pictorialising some aspects of Mohammad emphasising the culture of threats and intimidation in Islam were not a cheap exercise at invoking their freedom of expession, rather it was a result of well researched and deeply contemplated effort.
You cannot cmpare him with the archbishop who was at best marginalised and not respected by the general pubilc (the number of people who claim to be religious in Europe is dwindling) who came out with that speech on sharia for the sake of cheap publicity.
Oh, come on KM,
You were happy that the Archbishop wanted Sharia in Britain. He exercised his freedom by stating his views. Likewise, a few people wanted to draw some cartoons and exercise their freedom.
I agree with you that they have some hypocrisy in the "holocaust deniers" case. The solution is to remove that "hypocrisy", and not to take away the freedom.
I'm not worried that they didn't invent any faith, I'm happy at their other inventions though like the telephones / aeroplanes / computers / internet / various medicines etc.
Yeah sure why not. I emphasised that "rational" people would figure out that there was no fire and even if it was there is an organised way to escape. (and that includes my wife and kids(if they are "mature" enough to recognise the truth from lies).
Speeches need to be responded with speeches and arguments, not by banning them outright.
Santosh,
You obviously believe that 'Yelling 'fire' in a crowded theatre is a perfectly legitimate means of killing ppl. Nobody is suggesting that freedom of speech be curbed. But politicians yelling 'fire' should be censured. Burning of public property is unacceptable
This "yelling fire in a theatre" example is used a zillion times that I am sick and tired of it. In an ideal world even that should be allowed. "Rational" people would figure out there is no fire and even if there was would move in an organised way out of the theatre.
Again who decides what is (and what is not) analogous to "yelling fire in the theatre".
you??
KM,
I think your help is needed for those who would like to keep Dalits out of the temples beacuse they are supposedly "unclean".
. Your defense of keeping women out of mosques for "obvious reasons" is ridiculous and could never convince me (and I guess anyone who claims to be a rationalist)
Also, it is amusing to note that in your perspective, my defence of an artist's right to print (of all things) cartoons constitute "sadism" whereas your defence of a blatant violation of human rights of Muslim women is "good" according to "god given scriptures". We definitely have different world views and as I said we have to wait and see whose views survive in the long run.
KM,
You started by asking me to get enlightened and not fall for the western propaganda. I just asked a simple question, whether your mosque allows women to pray.
Do you think it is western propaganda that Muslim women are denied entry into Indian mosques?. I asked another question that you felt proud that an ex-Dalit (later converted Muslim) was praying along with you, will you feel proud that a Muslim woman prays along with you?. Looks like you are the one who need to get enlightened.
Anyways our views and perceptions differ. You are happy that the British Archbishop calls for implementation of Sharia. I'm happy that all the important Danish newspapers published the Mohammad cartoons. We'll wait and see whose views matter in the long run.

dijas:
It is nice to see an opposing perspective.
Why do you think 40 hectares of land that too i nan unused forest area is important for you (I mean the Kashmiri Muslims)?..
Atleast it can serve some useful purpose like building temporary toilets etc. for the Amarnath pilgrims. Why do you think it is wrong?. I'd be eager to know the answer.
